Structure of the studies

Following the bachelor's degree, a general introduction to the content and procedures in bioinformatics, the master's degree is meant to help you specialize in a chosen field. Seminars and research projects will introduce current scientific work. At Freie Universität, we offer three profile areas, related to topics in the professors' research groups. The four modules in the first semester (compulsory courses) strengthen and deepen the methodological basics and prepare the students for the focus areas and optional courses. The degree is concluded by an independently chosen and conducted master's thesis. Detailed information about the structure of the master in bioinformatics can also be found here.

The following pages will give you a detailed overview of courses offered in the different areas.
