Sample coursework

The following pages are meant to provide you with an interactive look at the coursework and questions you will engage with as a student of North American studies. Regardless of discipline, the independent reading and writing of English texts is an essential component of the program. However, the sample coursework is divided by the 6 different academic disciplines represented at the John F. Kennedy Institute. While the research of all 6 disciplines is focused on North America, the problems and perspectives you encounter (as well as the ways to reach solutions or conclusions) will vary from discipline to discipline, as you will see in the following tasks.

Once you've completed a sample exercise, you can verify your answers and receive feedback by pressing the results button at the bottom of the page.

Remember: this is not a test. The results do not show your abilities or present knowledge in North American studies and will not have any effect on your application. They should rather familiarize you with the content and methods of the subject you'd like to study.

Click on any of the disciplines below to get started, or click the forward arrow at the right side of this window.
