For the Multidisciplinary Studies Modules, students will take part in the multidisciplinary lecture series ("Ringvorlesung") which is offered every winter Semester. Students are required to either attend one "Ringvorlesung" and the Advanced Writing Skills course of the FU Language Center, or particpate in two multidisciplinary lecture series ("Ringvorlesungen").

• Multidisciplinary Studies Module A (5 CP) OR

• Advanced Advanced Writing Skills (5 CP) [offered at the FU Language Center]

For the Multidisciplinary Orientation Modules, students will take part in the multidisciplinary lecture series ("Ringvorlesung") which is offered every winter Semester. Students are required to either attend one "Ringvorlesung" and the Advanced Writing Skills course of the FU Language Center, or particpate in two multidisciplinary lecture series ("Ringvorlesungen").

Many disciplinary Master programs (e.g. Master Political Science) require 60 CP experience on the BA level in the respective discipline. Therefore, students of North American Studies have the option of aquiring an additional 10 CP in their primary discipline by choosing an associated module at another department of the Freie Universität (e.g. Literaturwissenschaften). Please note that most courses at other departments of the FU are taught in German.

*Students choosing this option are required to complete only one Advanced Module in their third discipline.

The Colloquium Module prepares students for their thesis writing in their primary discipline.

• Colloquium Module (8 CP)

In the advanced module students dig deeper into the topics of their focal discipline. In each of their focal disciplines, they are required to complete two modules (20 CP in total)*.

*Students that want to have an extended focus on their primary discipline (60 CP) by completing an asscociated module are required to complete only one advanced module in their third discipline.

• Advanced Module: Culture A – History of Ideas and Cultural History of Individual Media (10 credit points) and
