Other Berlin Research Institutes

FUB Biochemistry is also collaborating closely with many research groups from other universities in Berlin, Germany and worldwide.

In collaboration with Charité, which houses many research groups in Biomedicine and other areas of the Life Sciences, FUB offers classes for Biochemistry students focusing on Biomedicine. Furthermore, there are many other universities located in Berlin and Potsdam with research groups covering the entire spectrum of the Life and Natural Sciences, such as Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HUB), Technische Universität Berlin (TUB), Universität Potsdam, Beuth Hochschule für Technik Berlin and others. This extraordinarily rich academic landscape allows FUB Biochemistry students to explore a broad range of different subject and research areas; you can conduct Research Projects at these other institutions but you can also visit classes they offer that you are interested in. Moreover, after their success in the 2019 German Universities Excellence Initiative of the German Council of Science and Humanities and the German Research Foundation, FUB, HUB, TUB and Charité recently founded the Berlin University Alliance (BUA), as a consortium through which they will further foster their collaborations in teaching and research.

Moreover, there are numerous federal Life and Natural Sciences institutes located in Berlin, such as the Robert-Koch-Institut or the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment. In addition, Berlin is home to many non-university research institutions, which are mainly funded by the federal government and the federal states. FUB Biochemistry collaborates with many of them, including but not limited to the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine of the Helmholtz Association, the Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie, the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics or the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology IZI.
