About the entrance exam:
The entrance exam already takes place before the application deadline (usually at the beginnign of June) and is only offered for the winter semester.
Before taking the entrance exam, you have to hand in all of the documents required for the application at the Student Records and Administration Office for review. You will receive the invitation to the entrance exam after successful review of your documents.

The Studienkolleg, which carries out the entrance exam, also offers counseling. Furthermore, for certain subjects, preparatory courses are offered too that begin several months before the start of the application period.

Starting 2019, a fee of around €100 will be charged for taking the entrance exam.
